Emissions Gap Report 2025 prepared by UNEP is out!
- We are far off target.
– With current policies, the world is heading for 2.8°C of warming by 2100.
– Even if all climate pledges are fully implemented, warming only drops to 2.3–2.5°C.
– The Paris Agreement goal: stay well below 1.5°C.
- Technically, 1.5°C is still within reach — but time is running out.
- We need 55% emission cuts by 2035,
- Yet current pledges only deliver 15%
So, what’s the good news?
– We have the technology: solar and wind are expanding at record speed.
– Costs are falling.
– A low-carbon future is possible.
But it requires political will, fair financing, and urgent action — now.
