European State of the Climate Report 2025 is out!

Issued jointly by Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), implemented by ECMWF, and WMO, the report shows Europe’s increasing exposure to climate impacts.

  • Heatwaves extended from the Arctic to the Mediterranean.
  • Sea surface temperatures reached the highest level on record.
  • Wildfires burned a record area.
  • 70% of Europe’s rivers had below-average annual flows.
  • Rapid warming continued to reduce snow and ice cover.

In Türkiye, temperatures reached 50°C for the first time in July. This striking figure shows that the climate crisis is no longer a distant risk for the country, but a social, environmental and economic reality of today.

Europe has been warming twice as fast as the global average since 1980. The findings once again highlight the urgent need to accelerate climate action and protect biodiversity.
